In a sample of his Charizard’s DNA, he recognized the exact same section of viral DNA. This lead to a breakthrough in Pokemon research, explaining exactly where Pokemon came from: The ‘Pokerus’ Virus affects the reproductive organs, slipping its genetic information into its hosts gametes and changing the offspring to mutate into Pokemon.”

Dog Pokémon is a large term that not only includes dogs, but also wolves, other wild dogs and foxes. Fox Pokémon are the ones with the most varied body shapes and living places, and are often amongst the most intelligent Pokémon in the world.

Notes:
-Eevee is a fennec-like Pokémon that can be found in different enviroments. To adapt to those enviroments, Eevee will grow differently upon maturing (like gaining fins and a otter-like build in wet areas, bristles and long legs in a savannah area and so on). However, none of Eevee's adult forms are cats. They are all foxes. So shut up about it.
-Poochyena and Mightyena are not Hyenas, no matter what their names say. Horny toads aren't toads either, but rather lizards. Someone had no idea what to name them, so they're stuck implying they're hyenas. Which they're not. Because Mightyena hunts in packs, barks and howls and has a straight back- like all other canids. Hyenas do not hunt in packs (except for the spotted Hyena), they do not bark or howl and they have a sloping back.
-Rockruff is a half domesticated dog.
-Abra and its mature stages, as well as braixen and Delphox, use sticks or other objects to focus their immense psychic powers. Kadabra and Alakazam seem to enjoy using silverware, though not only spoons.
-Type:Null and its mature form Silvally are artifical Pokémon that have been created from Dingos. They have been upgraded technologically and genetically, creating the chimeras they are today.
-Spinda is a type of bush dog.
